Los textiles son mucho más que tejidos: guardan memoria, transmiten identidad y cuentan historias sin necesidad de palabras. No es casualidad que “texto” provenga del latín texere —tejer—, recordándonos que, mucho antes de la escritura, ya eran un medio de expresión y comunicación.
A lo largo de miles de años, han enlazado narraciones, han unido comunidades y han sido una pieza clave del desarrollo tecnológico. Hoy siguen cumpliendo ese papel: conectan con el patrimonio cultural y aportan una experiencia física que contrasta con una vida cada vez más digital.
Son, a la vez, tradición e innovación; artesanía y tecnología; cultura, sociedad y ecología.
Y mientras honran una práctica con más de 8.000 años de historia, los tejedores contemporáneos utilizan nuevas herramientas y materiales para expandir sus posibilidades y dar forma al futuro del textil.
Las obras textiles que Gancedo ha mostrado a lo largo de estos años en el Festival comparten un rasgo esencial: son creaciones de artistas que buscan despertar emociones y conectar con nuestras necesidades sensoriales. Cada pieza invita al tacto y refleja una tendencia en auge: vivir el arte a través de los sentidos.
Su trabajo impulsa una mayor apreciación por los materiales y las técnicas empleadas, destacando la importancia del textil, su tradición y su evolución. Volvemos a valorar fibras naturales como la lana, el algodón o el lino, aunque ya no contamos con los recursos para producirlas en la cantidad necesaria. Por eso avanzan los nuevos tejidos y cobra fuerza la recuperación de materiales dentro de una economía circular.
En esta charla exploraremos lo que transmiten estas obras:
• El valor de la belleza
• El asombro y la capacidad de ir más allá de lo convencional
• La intención de crear piezas que aporten alegría
• La evocación de bienestar y energía
También veremos cómo instrumentalizan los artistas sus obras y cómo influyen en la decoración: cada pieza en su lugar.

La colección se presenta como una propuesta que combina las estéticas de Celia B y Calma Chechu, con el objetivo de transformar elementos de uso cotidiano mediante un enfoque visual y conceptual que integra color, artesanía y diseño.
Textiles are far more than fabrics: they preserve memory, convey identity, and tell stories without the need for words. It is no coincidence that “text” comes from the Latin texere —to weave— reminding us that long before writing existed, textiles were already a form of expression and communication.
For thousands of years, they have interlaced narratives, connected communities, and played a key role in technological development. Today, they continue to serve this purpose: they connect us to cultural heritage and offer a physical experience that contrasts with our increasingly digital lives.
They are at once tradition and innovation; craft and technology; culture, society, and ecology.
And while they honor a practice with over 8,000 years of history, contemporary weavers are embracing new tools and materials to expand possibilities and shape the future of textiles.
The textile artworks that Gancedo has presented over the years at the Festival share one essential quality: they are creations by artists who seek to evoke emotion and connect with our sensory needs. Each piece invites touch and reflects a growing trend: experiencing art through the senses.
Their work encourages greater appreciation for materials and the techniques behind them, highlighting the importance of textiles, their tradition, and their evolution. We are once again valuing natural fibers such as wool, cotton, and linen, even if we no longer have the resources to produce them in the quantities required. This is why new fabrics are emerging and why the recovery of materials within a circular economy is gaining strength.
In this talk, we will explore what these works communicate:
• The value of beauty
• A sense of wonder and the ability to go beyond the conventional
• The intention to create pieces that bring joy
• The evocation of wellbeing and energy
We will also look at how artists use and contextualize their works, and how these pieces influence interior design: each one in its place.

The collection is presented as a proposal that combines the aesthetics of Celia B and Calma Chechu, aiming to transform everyday objects through a visual and conceptual approach that brings together color, craftsmanship, and design.
