Imagina un patio en el corazón de Madrid.
Un lugar rodeado de ruido, tránsito, ritmo.
Allí, donde la ciudad respira deprisa, aparece un vacío: un volumen frágil hecho de paja, un eco dorado que no pertenece del todo a este lugar.
Suspendida sobre él, una gran esfera blanca ilumina la noche, como una luna detenida en el patio urbano.
Ese vacío es VA·CUUS.
Es el hueco que deja la España vaciada.
Es el silencio de los campos de cereal cuando se marchan quienes los cuidaban.
Es la huella de los palomares, esas arquitecturas humildes que aún resisten al tiempo, hoy convertidas en ruina.
La esfera —ligera, hinchable, casi irreal— no es solo un objeto: es el cielo traído a la ciudad.
Es la luna que durante siglos ha acompañado al trabajo rural, al descanso, a la vigilancia silenciosa de los palomares.
Frente a la materia seca y terrestre de la paja, aparece esta presencia nocturna, blanda y luminosa, marcando el paso del tiempo y el ciclo que se repite.
Traemos al centro de la ciudad un fragmento de ese paisaje para que el visitante lo atraviese, lo huela, lo toque y, por un instante, lo habite.
No es nostalgia; es reconocimiento.
No es solo materia; es memoria.
VA·CUUS propone detenerse y volver a mirar aquello que parece desaparecer.
Transforma un patio urbano en un umbral entre dos mundos: la gran ciudad y el territorio que la sostiene, la tierra y el cielo, la ruina y la luna.
En ese encuentro, la fragilidad se convierte en forma, el vacío en experiencia, y el patrimonio rural se hace visible a través del diseño.
Esta instalación cuenta con la colaboración de Saz Anchuelo Piensos, patrocinador de las pacas de paja que construyen el vacío y hacen visible la memoria del campo en el corazón de la ciudad.
Imagine a courtyard in the heart of Madrid.
A place surrounded by noise, movement, and constant rhythm.
There, where the city breathes at full speed, a void appears: a fragile volume made of straw, a golden echo that does not fully belong to this place.
Suspended above it, a large white sphere illuminates the night, like a moon paused in the urban courtyard.
That void is VA·CUUS.
It is the absence left by depopulated rural Spain.
It is the silence of cereal fields when those who once cared for them are gone.
It is the trace of dovecotes—humble architectures that still resist time, now often reduced to ruins.
The sphere—light, inflatable, almost unreal—is not merely an object: it is the sky brought into the city.
It is the moon that for centuries has accompanied rural labor, rest, and the silent watch of dovecotes.
Against the dry, earthly matter of straw, this nocturnal presence appears—soft and luminous—marking the passage of time and the repetition of cycles.
We bring a fragment of that landscape into the city center so visitors can walk through it, smell it, touch it, and inhabit it, if only for a moment.
This is not nostalgia; it is recognition.
It is not just material; it is memory.
VA·CUUS invites us to pause and look again at what seems to be disappearing.
It transforms an urban courtyard into a threshold between two worlds: the city and the territory that sustains it, earth and sky, ruin and moon.
In this encounter, fragility becomes form, emptiness becomes experience, and rural heritage is made visible through design.
This installation has been made possible with the collaboration of Saz Anchuelo Piensos, sponsor of the straw bales that construct the void and bring the memory of the countryside into the heart of the city.
